Regions  |  Scotland

The Scotland region was founded in the early 1980s and has members spread over the Scottish mainland & the islands. Meetings are held in various places so that the inevitable travelling is reduced as far as possible. Members meet every two months or thereabouts and have a social gathering at Christmas. The AGM is generally held in Edinburgh during February. Anyone with an interest in bookbinding is most welcome to join, and we are delighted to have enquiries from people new to bookbinding.

All workshops are held on a Saturday and run from 11.00 - 4.00pm (break where appropriate for lunch).

A fee is charged for attending each workshop and there may also be an additional fee to cover the cost of materials.

If you would like more information about any of these events, contact Alison Hay, Scotland Region chairman.

Keith Stuckless: Japanese Yamato Style Binding (workshop)
We will make 2-3 books (time permitting) in the true Japanese fashion where the text paper will be Japanese writing paper and the covers Japanese chiyogami yuzen paper. It will show what these books are really like as substituting western style paper gives a completely different feel to the book. These books are floppy in soft cover.

Keith will show how to make the rolled paper cords used to join sections together. He will also be working with original Japanese Tools.
