General conditions for Membership
Membership is open to anyone who supports the aims of the Society, be they bookbinder (professional or hobbyist), conservator, librarian, book lover, or collector. New members must be aged 18 or over.
The Society is UK-based, and so nearly all of the Societies activities are UK-based, with the exception of the online webinar series. Overseas members are welcome, but should consider joining their local or national association (if they have not already).
Membership is for a period of 12 months from acceptance of either the system or the Membership Secretary that the conditions for membership have been fulfilled - these being that the appropriate data has been supplied to the Society along with payment.
Membership is discretionary.
Membership is non-exclusive. We share many members with like-minded organisations such as Designer Bookbinders, ICON, the Fine Press Book Association, Miniature Book Society, and the British Printing Society.
Student Membership
Student Membership at a reduced rate is intended to support those studying bookbinding full time in the UK. A reduced subscription is offered for 2 years, after which the full subscription is payable. In cases of on-going formal education or training in bookbinding, extensions will be considered.
